In an effort to enrich Orchard’s instructional program, offer recreational opportunities, and encourage school pride among students, staff and community, the District envisioned a new gymnasium, a performing arts building and athletic fields.

The 16,000 square foot Orchard Event Center opened on February 4, 2008 with state of the art technology. Surrounding our new Orchard Bruins Event Center is a park-like setting with new playgrounds and athletic fields to draw families, community and local residents to our unique event center, playgrounds, and fields.

The gymnasium and event center supports the school’s performance needs and PE program, as well as after-school recreational sports. Play courts are sized for organized league play, and oversized locker rooms with instructional space can double as team rooms during tournaments. For performances, the gymnasium form focuses sound toward the audience, who will use the facing bleachers as raised seating. An outdoor stage, accessible from within, will host all-school gatherings in the newly defined quad-area—holding the entire student body plus visitors. The building’s street façade, large covered entry porch, and lobby provide a formal entry sequence to welcome the community.
